KYOTO, Japan — Sanyo Chemical Industries, Ltd. has developed NEOPROVER HBF-151, a cold flow improver specifically designed for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) —a fast-growing next-generation renewable diesel.
Refined from used cooking oil and plant-based fats, HVO closely resembles conventional diesel fuel in performance, making it a drop-in replacement compatible with existing diesel engines and fueling infrastructure. As a result, demand for HVO is growing rapidly, particularly in Europe.
NEOPROVER HBF-151 was designed to address the unique crystallization behavior of HVO and has demonstrated excellent cold-flow improvement performance across a variety of HVO samples. Application studies and commercialization evaluations are currently underway. HBF-151 is expected to improve the usability of HVO in cold environments and support broader adoption of renewable diesel fuels.
Designed to address the unique crystallization behavior of HVO under cold conditions, NEOPROVER HBF-151 has demonstrated excellent flowability improvement across a variety of feedstocks. Sanyo Chemical is currently optimizing application parameters and evaluating the additive for commercialization. By improving fuel performance in cold environments, HBF-151 is expected to help expand the use of renewable diesel fuels.
